Mission

 

Partners working together to enhance the economic prosperity
and quality of life in Logan County

 

Primary Goals

 

1)       Assist existing businesses to increase profits and expand employment

2)       Attract new businesses to expand and diversify the employment base

3)       Increase the property tax base through capital investment and the sales tax base with retail expansion

 

Programs

 

Business Retention & Expansion: The Development Partnership assists existing businesses, proactively working to identify opportunities for increased profits with the desired outcome to increase capital investment and expand employment. Workforce development, compensation surveys, and employer-initiated projects are planned.

 

Planning & Site Development:   The Development Partnership will assist government with planning and review of new developments in order to create, promote, and protect industrial and commercial opportunities.

 

Ø  Comprehensive Plan: Acres of Opportunity” is a new plan for Logan County that will help guide future developments and growth. The Development Partnership will assist with implementation of the plan.

 

Ø  Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS): This strategic planning initiative is required to secure and leverage Federal funds. The Development Partnership will assist municipalities in completing this project.

 

Ø  Geographic Information Systems (GIS): The Development Partnership is actively participating in efforts to create a county-wide Geographic Information System (GIS). This technology is used by businesses and governments in research and planning. The Development Partnership will use GIS to market Logan County to expanding businesses..

 

Business Attraction: The Development Partnership will identify target industries and businesses and employ a direct marketing approach. Three critical site location factors tht favor Logan County compared to other Illinois regions:
 

1)       Availability of a skilled workforce

2)       Availability of sites for new construction with infrastructure in place or easily extended and existing buildings that can be adapted for new purposes.

3)       Quality of life

 

The Development Partnership will work with businesses, government agencies, educators, and community leaders to competitively position and market Logan County as a place that successfully meets business expansion criteria.

 

Business Startup:  Assisting entrepreneurs with business startup and expansion is an opportunity to grow locally owned businesses with strong ties to the community. The Development Partnership will utilize existing resources and develop new programs as needed to support and sustain business startup activities.

 

Information Resource:   Businesses looking to expand need quick and easy access to information about available properties and communities in which they are located. The Development Partnership will provide necessary and relevant information for existing and prospective new businesses on its website at www.LincolnLogan.com .
